Visible mending is not only a great way to give a beloved garment a new lease on life, it’s also a meditative exercise in creative expression and recycling! Join us for this special workshop to learn how to repair tears and holes (or embellish a textile in new condition) with the art of visible mending that takes inspiration from the rich tradition of Japanese Sashiko and Boro mending.

Each participant should bring in their own existing textile to work on and will receive instruction in visible mending techniques to give it your own unique repair. We’ll discuss how visible mending connects to the “slow sewing” movement and Kintsugi, the art of of embracing the imperfections of life.
