What Makes a KHG Arts Quilt or OOAK Piece?

Every so often, I have an original quilt or embroidered item of clothing to share. It usually happens only once in a blue moon because these pieces are an incredible undertaking that can take a tremendous amount of time, energy, and expertise. I prioritize hand sewing and traditional craftsmanship. Each is one-of-a-kind and my quilts incorporates vintage, sustainable, and/or reclaimed fabrics. I put my background in textile conservation and museum collections to work by rescuing and stabilizing vintage or antique quilt blocks that have been orphaned by their original makers for one reason or another. I used the highest quality thrifted items in a range of sizes to embroider. In doing so, I hope to do my small part in closing the cycle of textile waste (benefiting you in the process!) that plagues our planet.

I do not make my quilts for blue ribbons. Sometimes the seams don’t quite align. Sometimes they’re not quite perfectly squared. They are precious, but not too precious to be used. Each piece will always be made with exacting skill and heart; an eye towards color relationships, thrift, quality construction, and preserving stories.

Once I finish an item to sell, I’ll post it on my O R I G I N A L S page with details and pricing. If you are interested (serious inquiries only please), just email me at info@khgarts.com and I can answer questions, send invoices, and arrange for shipping. Scroll down on this F A Q page to read about payment/shipping arrangements

Pricing
If I could give everyone something beautiful just because, I would. Alas, student loans, a mortgage, veterinary bills, and the essentials of life in our modern world compel me otherwise. I try to offer a range of prices on different items so that they are affordable for more than just one set of financially able folks—you can find many patterns, kits, and other items on the more economic end of this scale right here in my etsy shop.

When it comes to the quilts or embroidered clothing that you see here on my website, you are seeing one-of-a-kind pieces that represent countless hours of work and expertise, years of refined skills, and investments in specialty tools and materials, to name just a few. These pieces are truly a great undertaking and they are priced accordingly in a transparent manner.

Payment and Purchasing

To purchase a piece here on my site, simply email info@khgarts.com (serious inquiries only please). We can talk a bit and I will send an invoice via PayPal once things are decided. I’m happy to consider setting up a payment plan (1/3 down payment required, to be paid in full within three months time). As I go along, I’ll evaluate other payment forms

Shipping

Embroidered goods are typically sent in padded envelopes via USPS Priority Mail. The cost of shipping and handling within the continental US is included in the listing price.

Quilts are sent in USPS Priority Mail medium or large flat rate boxes. The cost of shipping and handling within the continental US is included in the listing price.

If you live outside the continental US, please let me know up front in your email and I can get a quote based on your address.

I package items with the utmost care and they will always come with a “best practice” guide to cleaning and storing. All USPS Priority items include insurance and tracking and I find the service to be both reliable and affordable. Please keep in mind that I cannot be responsible for what happens to any package once it leaves my hands. That would be, you know, impossible. I’ve been shipping sales for over 10 years and recall only one or two packages being somewhat damaged and only one lost in that time, so odds are you’ll be just fine.

Returns

At this time, I am unable to accept returns. Please ask me any and all questions before making a purchase as I am more than happy to supply more info before you make a decision. If you’re unhappy with your order, please contact me at info@khgarts.com and we’ll figure something out.

EMBROIDERY

Do you have stitch tutorials?
Yes! You can find all our (free!) video tutorials in the KHG Arts Stitch Library via YouTube. Go ahead and subscribe to us on YouTube so you never miss them. The stitches in these videos feature in many KHG Arts patterns and I try to keep making more videos as time permits. You can also find other (free!) tips & tricks on my Blog or in the Resources section.

Can I sell or share KHG Arts patterns or items made from them?
I’m always honored to see when you create something new from my patterns for yourself, a friend, or family, but ask that you not reproduce, share, or sell KHG Arts patterns or items made with them for profit. KHG Arts is an independent, one woman operation so the creation of each item and its original artwork means a lot to me—personally, professionally, and financially. Instead, please feel free to share my website: www.khgarts.com Thank you!

Can you embroider one of your patterns for me or make a custom order?
Not at this time.
