Style Tribe is a summer day camp hosted by J.P. Knit & Stitch that encourages campers to discover and explore their own personal style identity by empowering them with hands-on skills in crafting their own unique wardrobe as well as opportunities for positive self expression and collaborative fun. This camp takes the emphasis off of keeping up with fashion trends and instead focuses on developing individual confidence and comfort.Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to experiment with different crafts (including drawing, sewing, collage, fabric printing, embroidery, and more!) to create wearable items and accessories + an autobiographical fashion zine. Each day campers will also hear from special guest speakers about their personal style, enjoy a midday walk/park time, and work together to create a celebratory finale event on the last day of camp.
Campers are encouraged to put together fun outfits for themselves to wear from home each day based on the following themes to help us explore ideas and tastes:
Monday: Favorite Outfit
Tuesday: Color
Wednesday: Accessories
Thursday: Prints + Pattern
Friday: Dress-up with your camp creations!
This camp is partly inspired by Lesley Ware’s “Sew Fab” sewing book series. Each camper will receive a Welcome Bag complete with basic sewing tools and a copy of Lesley’s awesome book as part of their registration fee.
