Sketchbook Spot Sampler

This piece began as a quickly chosen scrap of fabric used to demonstrate stitching techniques for my students. It began to take the shape of a traditional “Spot Sampler” and I later decided to build on that idea, sketching out new ideas I wanted to experiment with and reimagining the random assortments of stitches from teaching into doodles and motifs. Since embroidery is so much more about illustrative possibilities than any other craft, I really consider this to be my sketchbook and continue to regularly add to this piece.
