I’ve explored traditional methods for creating rag dolls for several years, learning how to create patterns for bodies and clothing, apply handmade custom wigs, and replicate heirloom details a a small scale. Pictured here are some of my favorites from L to R, T to B–Inspired by Disney’s 1960s Mary Poppins with lace-trimmed shift, piped skirt, straw hat, pleated felt jacket, and pleather boots; one sporting vintage-inspired jersey swimwear that I patterned to the body; two dolls of my own design with hand drawn and embroidered faces and hand knit accessories; an anthropomorphic unicorn made of felt with a pattern of my own design. All have custom wigs made with a variety of traditional techniques.
